Day 9

"and then came the rain"

Go watch Rock-A-Doodle.  I can't say the word "rain" or watch it begin to rain without thinking of this movie.  (It's raining here ;p)

Day 8

"Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high,
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.

Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow.
Why then, oh why can't I?

If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?"

I just saw on the Oscars tonight, a group of fifth graders from a small public school in New York, sing this song. That experience may have fulfilled a little diva's dream, but more than likely, it sparked a dream in every child's heart there to do something great.

Isn't it wonderful to see someone who works hard towards something to be given a chance to make dreams come true?

There may just be nothing greater.

Day 7

“All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.”

Bubbles. Doesn't a bubble make you smile? Bubbles, as in more than one should make you exponentially more excited and a sea of bubbles should make you go basically haywire!!!

A bubble bath is the most relaxing place in my house. Nothing beats the fun of a bubble bath, unless of cource, it is bubble gum scented! I just had a bubble gum bubble bath and I'm oh, so refreshed. When I play amongst the bubbles, I get to escape for a while. I was the commodore of the S.S. Cuddlepot. My tea-pot shaped vessel explored the vast unknown in the endless sea of small eppervescent balls of smelly-yumness. My crew and I were sailing smoothly for the majority of our voyage, floating along, documenting what we saw and keeping our pot on course, until one of my crew spotted a shark!. Hehe, no, wait...that was just my toe.

On my next adventure, I no longer saw the mounds of bubbles as waves, I saw them now as the peaks and valleys of the tippiety-toppietiest peaks of the tallest mountain range in the world, above the clouds. I got to ride on an eagle's back through the rifts, between crevasse, around pillars and through the clouds. I, in my bath tub, got to be wherever I wanted to be and see the world for the amazing wonder that it is.

I shan't stop making believe just because my bubbles have melted away, I will dream forever, will always aim to see the world through the most open eyes I can muster so I never miss a single wonder.

I learned today the difference of "night dreamers" and those who keep on dreaming while they are awake. The first live out their dreams in a state where nothing can get in the way, where everything is a success. The latter, those who dream all their lives long, have a bigger task at hand. They must overcome the real world, the physics of the earth matter to them along with laws of government, money and even other people. They must constantly rethink their methods, reinvent their dreams to fit into the time and recreate themselves each time in order to live out their dreams. This kind of person, a dream entrepreneur is what I want to be. I want to be someone who doesn't let obstacles stand in my way, I want to instead rethink my method and make a bigger, better idea then the one before. To be a person who just doesn't let a nay-sayer get in my way of a good idea. :)

Well there goes another day in the life of this silly girl. I really hope your weekend is going just swimmingly and that no sharks (or toes) pop out at you! ;p

Day 6

"When a clumsy cloud from here meets a fluffy little cloud from there, he billows towards her. She scurries away and he scuds right up to her. She cries a little and there you have you showers. He comforts her. They spark. That's the lightning. They kiss. Thunder."

Donald Duck comics were banned from Finland because he doesn't wear pants.

A rainbow can only be seen in the morning or late afternoon.

Fin whales are the second largest animal ever to live on earth.  They have been measured to over 80 feet long in Antarctic waters.

Most liquid laundry detergents are alive with living organisms that help to break down stains.

There are 350,000 Italians living in Toronto, Canada, a population about the same as that of Venice, Italy.

The Nestles haven't run Nestle since 1875.

Iguanas can recognize their human handlers and greet them differently, compared with strangers.

About 39,000 gallons of water are used to produce the average car.

One in ten people live on an island.

At the equator, the earth spins at 1,038 miles per hour.

2,500 newborn babies will be dropped in the next month.

Beavers have orange teeth.

Donkeys kill more people annually than plane crashes.

According to Illinois state law, it is illegal to speak English.  The officially recognized language is American.

In every episode of Seinfeld, there is a Superman somewhere.

In Tokyo, they sell toupees for dogs.

It is common in Israel and Egypt to eat watermelon with feta cheese.

Pumpkin rule of thumb:  the darker the shell, the longer the pumpkin lasts.

You're welcome! :D

Day 5

"So, Pan,' said Hook at last, 'this is all your doing.'
Ay, James Hook,' came the stern answer, 'it is all my doing.'
Proud and insolent youth,' said Hook, 'prepare to meet thy doom.'
Dark and sinister man,' Peter answered, 'have at thee."

Today, my thunder was stolen...not once...TWICE!  There is a Thunder Thief amongst us and I shall be the bigger person and......steal their thunder next time!

Well, this week is about wrapped up.  Have any fun weekend plans?

I hope to learn a lot about myself and my relationship with God this weekend, maybe even my proper place in the grand scheme of things.  After all, isn't that the point?  One of my dear friends has orchestrated a women's conference for Friday evening and Saturday and I am oh, so very excited to attend!

On the other hand, I sure do miss my dog at home.  The dumb thing probably doesn't even realize I'm gone!  She is so great, such a stress reliever.  She just is...she doesn't change for anyone, doesn't try to be something or someone she's not, she just lives to do her own thing, to come when she's called (sometimes ;p), to sit on your lap and chase her tail.  I can't help but to smile when I see her.  She is one of those "is she so ugly she's cute or is she just cute because she's small" kind of creatures, with a body twice as long as her legs and a neck longer than a giraffe's.  Ah, the simple pleasures.

I am not a morning person.  Why am I going to become a teacher, again?  Why would I study and work wicked hard for forever to get a degree to have a job that I will be nearly guaranteed to never sleep in past 6am...nice...good thinking, Stephanie!   Be jealous of my rock-star think-it-through skills.  I know I'm awesome.  Well, I guess that is what weekends are for...assuming I don't teach or have to be obligated to assist high school where they have weekend band camps.  Yea, let's not think about that one right now ;p

Well.  I think I'll leave you with a little more Peter Pan.  I less-than-three Peter Pan...every movie, children's book and of course the real novel...ever!  LESS THAN THREE!  ;p

Oh, my dog's name is Tink...short for Tinker Bell, but I call her Squeakum.  She makes funny sounds.

"So come with me, where dreams are born, and time is never planned. Just think of happy things, and your heart will fly on wings, forever, in Never Never Land!"

I hope you live every moment you're given in your very own Never Never Land.

Day 4

"This is the fun-vee. The hum-drum-vee is back there."

So, I'm almost always cheerful, jolly and care free. I'm basically Santa, but I can't give EVERYONE gifts. That's just unreasonable! Puh!

Anyways, I've noticed that a bunch of my friends let things bother them more than I ever would...certain things really put them in a bad mood. Now, I definitely have bad days and grumpy moods but I choose to feel that way. I choose what lets me feel good, bad, excited...whatever! I choose, get my point? Only you can decide how to take any given situation and make it work for or against you!

Some situations will always be out of your control and they may upset you but why let it get you down if you can't change it? Do what you have to do and whatever comes next is out of your control. That's hard for he control freaks and type A personalities but sometimes it's really nice to just hang loose, sit back, explore and let life happen to you!

Well that's all I have for today, and I'll leave you with a few words of wisdom from one if my favorie songs.

"Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be. Shine until tomorrow, let it be."

Day 3

"For a dreamer, night's the only time of day. "

So today was another wonderful day!  Today was my university band's concerto competition concert.  We had a whole slew of amazing soloists.  4 students, a horn, a mezzo-soprano, a bass and a percussionist performing on marimba.  We also had a spectacular trumpet professor play and my, oh my...talk about impressive!

I decided today at dinner to give my performance to God.  I played my best concert ever.

Sure, I flubbed up in a couple of places, but I moved on, giggled to myself about it and rocked the next part!  I'm so happy with how I played today that I'm less worried about my performances later this semester.  Praise Jesus!  :D

I have something from a book that someone gave me yesterday that kind of speaks to how I've been feeling lately:  "for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared."  Proverbs 3:26

I've decided to start taking my life one step at a time...but I'm a multi-tasker, so I believe in categorizing these tasks ;p  So, for now, I am not overwhelmed with the items on my plate, I have a lot to do, a lot going on, but I'm doing what I can to accomplish my obligations as they come to me so soon enough, with God's strength holding me firm, I'll get to where I need to be at just the right time.  :)

So get what you need to get done and keep on dreaming.

"Santa Fe, my old friend/I can't spend my whole life hiding/You're the only light that's guiding me today/Will you keep a candle burning?/Will you help me find my way?/You're my chance to break free/And who knows when my next one will be?/Santa Fe, wait for me...  "

Someday it will all be as it's meant to be.

Day 2

Howdy Partner!

So today was a lovely beyond lovely day.  The sun was warm, the breeze was swift, cool and refreshing and the company was stellar.  I am really blessed these days; I have wonderful sisters and God is really showing me His love.

I doodled today, mostly whales, it's tough to make their smiley smiles just right, but I'm working on it! ;)  I'm also beginning to revamp my music...I'll keep you posted...(below are not my new jams, by the way, lol x10)

"Hello mother, hello father.  Fleas, ticks, mosquitoes really bother!  Thanks for the package.  That's why I'm writing. K9Advantix really stops all the biting.  Hiking, canoeing and tent pitching.  They're not biting, I'm not itching.  Can't wait to show you all my new tricks.  Thanks again for sending me K9Advantix."  ...  Didn't even have to look up the words.

"Sometimes some crimes go slippin' through the tracks but these two gumshoes are pickin' up the slack...no case to big, no case too small, whatever............gets solved!  Ch-ch-ch-Chip and Dale.  Rescue Rangers.  Ch-ch-ch-Chip and Dale when there's danger.  Oh, no! It never fails once they're involved somehow whatever ............ gets solved!  Ch-ch-ch-Chip and Dale!"

"Gummy Bears!  Bouncin' here and there and everywhere.  High adventure that's beyond compare!  They are the GUMMY BEARS!"

"Oh-ee-ay (Oh-ee-ay).  Oh-ee-oh (Oh-ee-oh). (double time) Oh-ee-ay (Oh-ee-ay).  Oh-ee-oh (Oh-ee-oh).  It's another Tail Spin!"

"What's the story, Wish Bone?"

Brain poot.  No more walk down memory theme-song lane tonight!  ps....no looking-up-ness, internet box, or google machine used, be jealous of my mad remembering childhood fun-times skills.

abadee abadee aba That's all folks!

"Let's do this thing!"

(Ratatouille)

So, here I go, my first blog!  Inspiration for blogging:  everyone has started these "30 day challenges."  I want to try something different.  I hardly update my FB status, so blogging is most definitely a new thing for me.

I am going to blog something for thirty days and I will hopefully have direction by the end.  A theme, perhaps; a following...maybe...but direction none-the-less.

I'm excited.

I think I might re-document some of my travels...some of my dreams, my crazy ideas and those random movie quotes that always pop in my head during a conversation...instead of keeping them to myself, I'll share them here!  ...maybe...

I like this so far.  No expectations, no grades, no judging, no set pace.  I can mosey through this process like exploring a new city.  I may just find what I don't know that I'm looking for along the way.

:)
